|Old School wheels worthwhile to race?||hammer_cycle|

|I have 2 sets of wheels I use for racing, Zipp 404's for rolling/flat courses and Rolf Sestrieres for hills/crits. I also have an old set of Tubular Mavic GEL280, GL330 rims that are in need of a rebuild (box design). I'm bored at work and I'm wondering if I would get any benefit out of rebuilding this wheelset (Chris King hubs, lightweight spokes, etc..). I think the big benefit would be that they would be 3 cross and flex considerably less than either of the other 2 sets of wheels (good for crits or hilly races maybe?). Obviously, being the old-school box design, they wouldn't be very aero. Is it worthwhile to build up this set of wheels or just leave them hanging on the wall?
Thanks in advance.

|those would be excellent critwheels. aero is not important in a crit. very very few crits end in a solo break and if they did, are you the rider that does so. prolly not. i'd race on the gel rims/ king hubs over the rolfs anyday!!
plus i'm sure there are plenty of RRs that are on crappy roads that there is no reason to beat up your 404s on.
