Ksyrium freehub??(4 posts)

Ksyrium freehub??boneman

I have a pair of 2001 SSC Ksyrium's with M10 freehub for use with DA 8/9 speed or 10 speed using Mavic's cog set. I want to use the wheels with a Campy 10 cassette, not Mavic's, and was wondering if the ED10 freehub body was available separately and easy to fit?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know for sure, but you should be able to do it. However, having said that, since it's Mavic it will be expensive and take quite a while to get if it's a special order. I've yanked apart blown Mavic freehubs used on MTB wheels (they share the same design) and it's not that hard to swap out the assembly. You're biggest challenge is finding a long 12 mm hex wrench - it's a little harder than you might think to locate one.

Thanks. I'm in the UK and located one at Parker International for £50. I've befriended a bunch of motorheads at my local pub, both car and motorcycles, so I should be able to find or borrow a 12mm if I don't have one in my tool box.

Stanard 12 mm Allen wrench is too short, so you have to use the long end and place the short end in a vice. Only one I could find easily is a ball end whihc is not my preference for this sort of work due to the loads. You can make one from some high strength bar stock, heat it up to bend it then heat treat it. The motor heads should get off on the challenge - I know I would. ;-)
