Rolf Hubs and Bontrager Rims...pedalpete
May 16, 2002 1:21 PM
I've got a pair of Rolf wheels that have seen about 3 years of serious use. I am thinking of replacing the rims after this year.
Has anybody replaced a Rolf rim with a Bontrager?
They have the same spoke count, and the layout is similar, so I am assuming it should go smoothly, but I've done some searching, and nobody has mentioned doing this previously.
Anything special I should watch out for?

They're both made by Trek so I assume you can do it but you might want to call them to check that the IRD for both rims is the same.

The Bontrager rims ARE Rolf wheels, just not using his name!
Rolf is licensing the use of the Paired Spoke design to Trek, But he wanted his Name back. So, Keith Bontrager stepped up and said basically, Use my name. Rolf is doing his own thing again, without Trek. He has some really cool stuff coming out soon. Look for it!!
