|7400 DA brake upgrade w/7700 shoe holders and shoes??||boneman|

|I have a set of Dura Ace 7400 dual pivot calipers and have been thinking about upgrading to the 7700 brake holders and shoes with their larger surface area. Will these have adequate clearance in fork/seat stay areas when fitted?
Thanks in advance.

|I have done something similar. I have Ultegra 600 (what is that, 6400 stuff?) and have installed an aftermarket cartridge pad that is a copy of the 7700 stuff. It works fine.|

|I'm running older 105 calipers with Ultegra holders and pads, and clearance is the same, if not greater. The pad contact area is longer and skinnier, which is good, as it makes setup easier, and stopping power is fine - no complaints here.
I like having the replaceable pads, even though you're not doing nearly as often as V-brake pads. I do plan on trying some Kool-Stop supra pads once these wear down, as they've got a great reputation.
