New Downtube Shifters?(2 posts)

New Downtube Shifters?Matno

Are the current (9 speed) Dura Ace downtube/aerobar shifters indexed for the front or just the rear? I've heard that a lot of guys still like friction for the front so that they can trim the front derailleur. I'd like to think that's not really necessary if my front is set up right, but maybe it is. My current setup has friction in the front, and it's okay, but I'd rather not have to think about it as much as I do. Perhaps shifters with the option to switch (my current rear shifter can be friction or indexed). Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Front is friction, the rear is index. None of the Shimano down tubes shifter(current Dura Ace included), offer an indexed front.
