|You also need to replace your left shifter to go with that new FD, and once you've done that, just buying the proper crankset is small potatoes.
I think that people who are obsessed with dumping their triple so that they spend a bunch of money for no performance enhancement must simply be waaay too motivated by what others think. (I'm NOT saying you are one)

|Are you sure that the shifter will not work for both set-ups? I heard that there is an adjustment for 105 & Ultegra for that purpose.
About $175 for the crank, not TaterTots to me. I would like to know the difference between the two cranks.
I find the triple just a pain in the ass, never use the GG. One problem I have is shifting from lg. chainwheel to middle; the chain often just drops down to GG. Trim works well and all else seems adjusted well.
My wife wishes I cared more about what others think, but that doesn't matter...

|afaik the shifters are compatible. there is no Ultegra triple shifter, ditto for the lower groups.|| |
