campy chorus ?'snyedid

okay, so i just bought a bike that's coming in the mail that has a campy chorus group from '92. I'm pretty sure it's 8-speed, but the guy may have upgraded it to 9-speed (he managed a shop in minneapolis). So would it be better to keep the group or strip the bike and sell the group? What might I get for a group that's been professionally maintained? i'm a newbie rider, so i don't really know if i prefer campy to shimano. I know about the great deals on ultegra groups on abicibikes.com. What should I do?

Pump up the tires and ride the bike. You might like what you have. You won't hurt it enough to change its value, but you will get experience with what you have already paid for. After you ride it 500-1000 miles take a Shimano equipped bike for a ride and compare. Then you will have a better idea what to do. Nobody here can tell you what is better for your likes. The great deals will still be around after you try this stuff out.
