correct chain length on single chainring bikeRob_S

This may be a stupid question but how do I get the chain length correct for a single chainring setup? all the information I can find is for doing double/triple chainrings.

This is a 'recovered from skip' bike and it came minus it's original chain...

Thanks
No difference, unless you mean single-SPEEDretro

If you mean a bike with a single ring in front and a cassette or freewheel with derailleur in back, here's a simple way that will work: Run the chain around the front ring and around the biggest cog in back, then add one link. That's close enough that the derailleur can take up the slack. Or see www.sheldonbrown.com for more advice than you'll ever use.
If you mean a single SPEED bike, with one ring and one cog in back, check the singlespeed board. Sometimes that's tricky, but the worst that can happen is that you'd have to buy a tensioner.
