|Colnago Technos vs Master Lite frame||skyman51|

|What are the technical differences between the two frames. I see that the technos is billed as a steel frame for riders under 160 lbs. and the Master Lite for heavier riders. Does that mean that someone that is 185 should not ride a technos because it will break?|

|The x light has the master profile shaped tube for all the tubes of the main triangle. I think the technos only has it for the top tube. The shape of this tube is supposed add torsional rigidity and therfore eliminate flex. Not sure but I think the rear chain stays are different also.
My guess is that a heavy rider could ride a technos without breaking it but the b.b. would be quite flexy. Call tri-tilir in texas. They don't sell Colnago to individuals, only distribute to shops, and you would probably get a better answer than someone trying to sell you a frame that isn't right for you.
I had an x-light up until a few weeks ago and it was a great bike for heavier riders. I weigh 200 and it was very comfy.

|What's the deal in this? I was so proud of you with your repair job. Same frame?

|I was on my third ride with the bike and I got run over by some woman making an illegal turn. The frame is totaled. My brazed joints on the rear held up but the head tube got twisted. Anyway, the insurance settled for the full replacement value of an MXL so I don't feel so bad. I wanted to fix it again but they took it away. I'm looking for another project. I may build one up from scratch this time as your Kenali inspired me. Send me an e-mail some time.|

|At least you made some money on the deal. Time to buy some framebuilding tools?

|I had a MXL for a while. I sold it because it was a bit too harsh riding for my 150#'s.
IMHO, there are much better frames than either of these two in the Colnago lineup. But that's just my opinion. ;)

|The MXL may be just what you need--especially if you ride a larger frame (62cm in my case). I can't imagine a more responsive or better riding frame for my bulk. About the only thing I'd consider replacing it with would be a C-40.|
