|Ksyrium vs XLites vs ??||Uphiller|

|I know wheel topics have been beat to death. I'm down to choosing between a pair of Ksyrium SSC or Bontrager X-Lites (unless someone knows of another wheelset strong enough for racing AND training -160lbs.). I've knocked out Velomax and others. The only other 'all arounder' I like is a set of D/A hubs hand-laced to a decent rim. Any thoughts from people who own/ride/race them?|

|If you don't mind spending the money for a proven reliable wheel get the Ksyrium SSC. If you get a good wheel builder then a pair of DA double butted 14 gauge spokes wheels well work well.
I'm 175 lbs and hard on wheels. I haven't had any problems with my Ksyrium SSC, but had two built wheels laced twice in a year. We have a local builder who is a perfectionist and uses a gauge to build his wheels.
He says that he can build wheels better than some $500 pair. I haven't heard any complaints about the Ksyrium SSC for quality, just the price.

|I went for the X Lites after test riding 3 sets-XLites, Ksyriums and Neutrons. The X's weren't as harsh as the Neutrons and I liked the way they rolled, very smooth. The Ksyriums climbed well also, I think they're both great wheels personal preference/cosmetics at this point.|

|K's win hands down. The price is the only downside. The wheels are great all rounders and imho beeter then the x-lites. I don't find the stiff wheels a problem and enjoy that stiffness on the climbs.|

|I just got a pair. I just tested them in the parking lot where I bought my bike. I will only get the bike in just over a month so I can't really tell you. But what I can tell you is that I saw absolutly no difference btween the two. They are a bit more heavy but I figure I would not see the difference and considering the roads here (wich are really bad), I decide to opt for them for an everyday training wheel and some racing.|| |
