Advice on Trek frame/Campy cable adjusters(2 posts)

Advice on Trek frame/Campy cable adjusterslstocks

I recently purchased a used Trek OCLV frame, that the previous owner had equipped with Dura-Ace components. He had left the DA cable adjusters on the downtube. I got a new set of Campy record ergo levers and associated cables, and was trying to replace the existing DA adjusters with the new ones. However, the old ones won't come off. After removing the allen-head screw, I've soaked them with WD40, and whacked them (gently) with a small rubber mallet, but no go. Am i mising something here? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'd leave them on. The previous owner may have used glue (ug!) or done something else. You could try to tap them off by inserting a screwdriver under one edge and tapping the driver (all done at an angle) but you might endanger the down tube.

There's little difference between the C and S models here--rest assured that your bike WILL shift properly with either one--so just let sleeping cogs lie.
