IRC DuroTour Tires?(3 posts)

IRC DuroTour Tires?kkester

I'm possibly interested in a Trek 7700FX bike, unfortunately the local shops don't have any immediately in stock for me to evaluate. I note on the Trek site, these bikes come with IRC DuroTour tires. I can't seem to find anything on these tires on the IRC site or elsewhere. What type of tires are these? While I suspect that they would perform quite well on a road, would they be appropriate at all on a well-maintained trail?

I've been happy with IRC tires generally, but I don't know about those specific ones.
FWIW, though, I use my Atlantis about 75 percent on pavement, 25 percent dirt roads and trails. Panaracer Paselas in 700x35 work really well on both surfaces. They're rated for 75 psi, and I run them about 80 on pavement, 65-70 on dirt.

They have a kind of file tread, I don't remember if they are listed as 32mm or 35mm wide. As you might expect, they are a little more performance oriented than a typical hybred tire, but less so than a road slick. I'd think they would be very well suited for use on a typical crushed limestone rail-trail conversion.
