I need a cheap but reliable replacement HS. Nashbar has these on clearance for $9.95. Anyone have experience with them. specifically does anyone have any "J.R.A. and it blew up" stories (hope not). thanks.
If it's on sale for $9.95, There's a reason......Dave Hickey

As a rule, Nashbar is not the highest quality stuff. My experience with Nashbar and Performance house brands is they wear very fast and they're not of the highest quality. That being said, I've never tried their headset. For $10, it's worth a try. Just don't expect Chris King quality and reliablity.

Right now pricepoint.com has 1-1/8" WTB Grease Guard HS, which normally sell for $70, on sale right now for $20. Dunno if they'll work on your bike - it's threadless.

I just put one on an old bike and I have to say that I am not wild about it. It is kind of different, or something, I don't know, it is just sorta creepy. It has a heavy feel to it. Like roller bearings in honey. The bearings are apparently very well sealed, however.
