Campy brake pads(4 posts)

Campy brake padsPaulCL

Just a question of curiousity. I ride Campy Record. I've put about 6000-7000 miles on my current set of brake pads - the originals. Given that I may not notice a gradual decrease in stopping ability, is there any recommended replacement interval for these things??

Not that I want to spend the bucks, but I do have a $100 GC to Colorado Cyclist burning a hole in my pocket. I've had it since Christmas - hey, that's a lot of self-restraint for me not to spend it foolishly!

I have had a chorus brakeset since 1994 and the pads are still good(getting somewhat thin though) I race as a master and put maybe 5000 mi a yr on my 'race bike' I have found mine to work just as new. I have had a spare set waiting to put on the front brake for 2 yrs now. So I would spend my 100 bucks on a nice set of tires instead. cheers

There is a line marked on the top of the pads that indicates the minimum thickness. Unless you brake a lot more than most, the pads are liable to get hard and lose effectiveness from old age before they wear out.
