Look fork-rubber bung question/Calling Tjeanloz & othersboneman

I've used a Look HSC 2 fork for the last 3 years and just recently swapped out the stem to one with a lower stack height. After a bit of testing/riding, I find a need to move the rubber bung down about 15mm (I'm not big on having 15mm of spacers on top of the stem). Now I imagine the bung's pretty snugged up in the steerer. I have the usual tools to do this but before I start slamming down, anybody with experience in resetting a bung which has been in place for this long?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The expander plug works just like the old stem wedge worked- so you should be able to loosen the bolt a few turns, tap it with a hammer, and pull it right out. Be sure to loosen the stem bolts first though- it can be tough if the stem is clamping down on the whole unit.

Thanks for the clear response. A lot easier than my first star-fangled nut install a few months ago. After leaving the States I've gone from a full workshop to as Black and Decker would say, "simple hand tools." A few good things still to be said for the quill stem, aside from adjustability but then again, you got to roll with the times. You applying that economics degree yet?
