|I want to purchase a longer seatpost in order to compensate for a frame that's a tad too small. So I look on the old one, and it says "28.8" The problem is, I don't know who makes this odd size. Is there a better option here?|

|American Classic makes a road seatpost in 28.6, but I've never seen a 28.8 before. If you can, I'd suggest measuring the old one with calipers before buying anything.|

|I have one of these - mine is a vuela. Otherwise, try a narrower one with a collar - LBS/Web should be able to sort...|

|I've also got a 28.8 seatpost and I'll tell you what my shop told me.
They pulled out a ruler and said see here? one millimeter. now, visualize 2 tenths of that.
When you tighten the clamp you should be fine since it will compress a bit, although this may depend on your frames design and material. It worked for me and I haven't had any trouble for 2 years, but again, yours may not work... I suggest you see if your LBS has an old, used 26.6 in a parts bin that you can try. If it works for you, buy a good seatpost from them.
Maybe some of the shop guys on this board have an opinion.
