Do the dura ace wheels (not the carbon rim, the clincher) really have an aero advantage? I know they have few spokes, but the rim profile is pretty low. How do they compare to ksyrium sl's in aerodynamics?

Thanks,

Since neither the DA or Ksyrium has a deep section rim and they both have 16 spokes on the front, they are going to be pretty close in aerodynamics. Spoke pattern has very little practical effect on aerodynamics. Low profile rims are never going to be as aero as the deep section units, but they are significantly lighter and less problem in cross winds. IMO they are a better choice for all around riding because of this. Compared to a 32 spoke wheel, either one of these is probably good for about 20 seconds in a 10 mile TT (about 0.3 mph at 25 mph). Obviously less effect at lower speeds. Three minutes in 100 miles. For reference super aero wheel is good for 0.4-0.5 mph in ideal conditions.

I don't think there is a big difference in aerodynamics between the DA and Kstrium. But if you considere buying one of these sets go for Mavic. The Ksyriums are much stiffer and look better.

How would you compare the Campagnolo Eurus vs the Shimano D/A wheelset?
