Mavic OP clicking/creaking(2 posts)

Mavic OP clicking/creakingjello
Mar 11, 2002 8:25 AM
I've noticed a clicking and/or creaking sound coming from my rear wheel. It's coming from the rim weld/joint area. I thought it was my hub, but after I had it repacked the sound was still there. So I thought since I hear it only when my weight is on the wheel, maybe the spokes are loose. Well when I was exmining the wheel, spinning it around and wiggling it side to side, I noticed at the rim joint/weld was were I could produce the sound.

Is this a common problem of Mavic Open Pros? Is the rim strucurally sound or should I replace it.

there was a huge recent thread on this over in General forum a week or two ago. I have heard that this is a non-essential piece of material moving around that can be silenced with an adhesive. Best have a LBS check it to make sure it is not your joint coming apart though. The Mavic has had a run of typical French quality in recent years, and I for one have stopped using them.
