Campy Veloce brake woes(3 posts)

Campy Veloce brake woesrhillrider

My veloce pads regularly have imbedded metal slivers. They are eating my Mavic rims. I am removing and cleaning and sanding damn near every ride. Anyone experience this with Veloce? Any suggestions? Switch to Shimano?

Replace the pad material with Kool-stop black replacements. If the material is not removable, replace the whole shoe with Koool-Stop black units.

There are certain pad/rim combinations that have this problem, though it is impossible to predict. IOW, a pad can work fine with one rim, and pick up shards from the next. You don't say which MAVIC rim, though I haven't seen problems reported with Veloce pads before. I've had this problem and just rode it out, (10-15K miles and the rims were in need of replacement). If you want to keep your current rims and don't want to mess with this, then switch pads.
