Thoughts on new Mavic Ksyrium Elites(2 posts)

Thoughts on new Mavic Ksyrium Elitessidley

My LBS assures me that the new Elites are as light as the original ksyrium (about 1700 grams) but unlike the ksyriums, the elites are made for training even for us 190 lbs + riders. Anyone rolling on the elites?

I got pair at the end of november and love them. They are bomb proof. Very stiff, semi aero, and they look really good. The Elite uses stainless steel spokes and brass nipples but uses the same hub(FTS-L) as the SSC and in my opinion the hub is the most important part. The Elite has different lacing on the rear wheel but all are minor differences. I believe that with the skewers that are supplied the total weight is about 1900 grams. The skewers they give you are boat anchors. I immediately replaced them with some Mavic composites skewers. I have yet to true them, so far so good. I think you will find the Elite a good training or race wheel. Regardless of what your LBS tells you the Elite is a "Ksyrium Quality" wheel at a more affordable price.

Hope this Helps,
