Catey mity3 readings - help!hayden
Feb 18, 2002 9:27 AM
I just put a cateye mity 3 on my roadbike. I did the rollout and it came to 210 cm. I put this in the computer and off I rode. Since this is a new bike I was feeling really good cause it seemed like I was flying. Then after about 5 minutes, I realized that even with an engine, 45 mph was fast for the flat road I was on. I rode a distance that I know is 2 miles and it showed up as 3.12 miles on the computer. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong. The magnet is mounted about 1-2 inches from the hub. I had to mount this close b/c there are only 16 spokes. Thanks for any help,
Hayden

2 miles=3.2 km (approximately). Calibrated in Km instead of Miles?

Isn't 210 the default setting? It's already in the computer, that is.

Yeah check to see if you are in km instead of miles and also use the number that cateye gives in the instruction manual for your size tire to calibrate the computer...then see if you go 45mph on the same road! just kidding :)

Thanks for the help. I'm 99.9% sure it is in miles, but I will check tonite and ride it out again on wednesday. About the default, yes, 210 is the initial value that is in the computer from the factory. 210 is also the distance it says for my 700c 23mm tires in the manual. I just did the rollout to make sure.
Thanks,
hayden
...maybe my car's odometer has been wrong all these years ;)
