How is the paint quality on the factory painted Litespeed frames? I like the brushed Ti look, but was wondering how the paint holds up over time and miles. I know it adds weight and all, but for the moment, I'm just wondering about the quality and durability of their paint. Anyone? Thanks.

I may be wrong but I don't think they offer painted frames anymore except the aluminum frames. Didn't see anything about a painting option on their site. Too bad, plain Ti is booooring.

My dealer told me I can get paint for about $300.00. The new catalog has a sienna painted red. Looks good.

Im a litespeed dealer, we just sold a Tuscany that was painted. The paint on the bike was good, graphics under the clear coat, nice paint layout still showing enough Ti so you know theres a Ti bike under the paint, but it took much longer for the bike to come in than non-painted models. Litespeed sublets the paint to a shop in chattanooga and since its not done in house, it seems to slow the process down. As far as durability it should last as well as any painted bike under normal use.

The first year Litespeed offered painted ti they were painted by a shop in Tennessee- and the results were good but not great. Since that year ('99 I believe), they have been painted at Cycleart in San Diego, who have done a near flawless job, but caused the lead times to expand exponentially- it takes ~5-8 weeks to get a painted frame as opposed to ~1-2 to get a brushed one. The Cycleart paint though, has been as good as looks and durability get.
