Just curious, is it my imagination, or do I get constantly blown off every time I try to do business at Spokes Bike Shop in Wheaton, IL. I might get five minutes of their time, and then they are off somewhere else. Has anyone else who has frequented this establishment found the service to be this bad?

I am very satisfied with Spokes. Both in products and support. They always take time for my wife and I. I would not ever consider buying a bike or gear from anyone but Spokes. And they are about an hours drive for us. Their prices are competitive and their knowledge is top shelf.

Obviously, you don't shop around. I would watch Sammy around your wife as well. He used to try and hit on me every time I would walk into the store, and he is disgusting.

Are you kidding me. That shop is the most overpriced, dirtiest shop in chicagoland. There are much better shops, like Village Cyclesport in Elk Grove, or Higher Gear in Chicago and Highland Park?. Those guys would sell their offspring if they could make a buck.

where do you see dirt? its a bike shop and clean considering all the traffic that comes in the doors not to mention mudcovered mountain bikers. unfortunately they let YOU in and you sound like someone with nasty insight in the world"sell their offspring"???? lets face it in the world of nice intelligent people we dont slander. shame on you didnt mommy teach if you cant say something nice dont say anything. i can understand being unhappy because of a bad deal etc. but fortunately i have only had positive experiences with spokes . im wondering what causes you so much hatred.

Go into those other stores and then go into Spokes. You will notice a big difference in cleanliness.

Greg, Spokes is a bike shop, not a restaurant. Thank goodness they let me in the door when I am a muddy mess after a ride. Notice that bikers don't wear white gloves because it can get a little grotty out there at times. Maybe you haven't been to Spokes lately, but it's looking sharp with new display racks and some nice open space. The floor may sometimes need a vacuum, but that happens when so many happy customers are traipsing in and out all day long. Have a great day!

I am sorry I offended anyone, but I am just agains any bike shop thats main goal is to rip off unsuspecting customers. When I was first getting into cycling, I would go into Spokes and look at their frames and bikes. At the time I didn't know a good bike for a rip off. Sammy would tell me this is the perfect bike and this was a great deal. I later went in with a friend who had more knowledge on the subject, and he told me all those bikes were stock frames from three or four years ago, not team frames like Sammy the rip off artist was claiming them to be. he was trying to sell a $300-400 frame for $1,300 Lucky I didn't buy one. That is what pisses me off. I just expect a little more honesty, not a used car salesman. I am sorry that I offended you, but the guy is a rip off artist and does nothing to help the sport, or the local bike shop market.

I noticed how beat up their "new" merchandise is. I would be embarrassed to call almost any bike in that shop new.

It sounds like you take everything a bit too seriously. Lighten up, laugh a little, be nice. Appreciate the uniqueness of other people.

i have always had very positive experiences with the spokes crowd and found everyone that works there very friendly and attentive. there are some customers that come into the shop only to browse and try things on with the intention of ordering mailorder etc. they tend not to get the same attention.
