rear wheel cassette wobble(4 posts)

rear wheel cassette wobblekcd

While the wheel is spinning, there are (1) a slight cassette wobble (horizontal) and (2) a significant cyclic variation in the sound of the hub. The components in question are dura-ace 8-speed. What could be the cause and how can they be fixed? Should they be considered significant since the wheel seems to ride fine?

i would inspect it closer.. the sound changing on you might indicate seals or something like that.. the wobble.. up and down?? thast just not good.. i mean.. its either the interface between your freehub and cassette being way off wack.. or the freewheel mech. coming off the hub.. pay attentio to it.. if you cant figure it out.. go to LBS.. i thinnkn you might have a big problem on your hands.. if everything checks out then.. call shimano.. it doesnt sounds like a normal thing to me.. get some answers..

almost every hub has some wobble on casette. when i pedal you can see the cassette kinda move up and down. its the free hub body. i have the 8 speed freebub bodies on all my training wheels and all of them do it.

dont worry about it.
Check to see if the freehub body's loose.Spoke Wrench

To tighten it, you have to remove the axle and use a 10mm allen wrench.
