| odd look pedal spin stiffness | scottfree Feb 11, 2002 5:38 AM | | Just mounted some new low-end Look pedals (236s, I think; can't see 'em from here). They're replacing a 15-year-old pair of Mavic clipless, so I'm not sure if this is a problem or just the way things are with new Looks:
They seem a little tight on the axel. When I spin 'em by hand, they don't flip happily 'round and 'round like my old pedals. They sort of fip around once or twice and come to a stop pretty quickly. When riding, I can feel a faint resistance, not quite a grinding, at certain points in the stroke. Similar feel to a bottom bracket when it's too tight.
Question: Could the pedals be down too tight on the bearings, and can they be loosened? |
| Fresh Grease Maybe the Cause or .... | Voelkel Feb 11, 2002 7:39 AM | | My pedals only rotate a few times when I tried to spin them in the past. These were when they were new so I attributed this to freshly packed grease and the bearing races were not worn yet. If your pedals are brand new I would not worry about it. They should rotate a little but you also dont want lateral movement due to them being loose. |
