I found the right size for the screw that ultegra have a tendency to loose and then the shifters rattle themself to pieces. under the shifter and up there is a little screw that keeps everything tight..home depot has them..
machine screw- flat fhillips metric #4 4mmx 8mm is a perfect fit |
| where is this screw? | Paul Feb 11, 2002 3:45 AM | | Up there? Is the shifter in a normal position, or do you have to engage it to see this screw? thanks |

The screw backs out, the smaller lever (shift release) gets loose and makes a rattling noise, then one day the whole shifter stops working correctly. You're left with either trying to rebuild the *entire* lever mechanism (very hard) or buying a new lever. Use BLUE Loctite when you install the screw. My advice is to use stainless steel. You will have to shorten the screw. |
