Can anyone tell me where I can find seatposts in the 25.0mm - 25.4mm diameter range.

Better yet, does anyone know the correct seatpost diameter for a steel Univega frame from '78 or '79?

Much appreciated.

Go to a good LBS. They have calipers to measure and a QBP catalog to look up what's currently available in the required size. Bring the old seat post if you still have it - getting an accurate reading on the ID in the clamp area can be a bit tricky. An alternative is to buy a set of calipers - you can get very inexpensive (i.e. el cheapo) 6" plastic ones from palces like Sears or you can spend well upwards of $100 to get a nice digital unit from folks like Mitutoyo, Starrette, Brown & Sharpe, etc. They come in handy if you do a lot of things yourself and have to mess with older bikes.
