Which stationary trainer? Rim drive vs. tire driveRaiderMike

I need to buy a stationary trainer for a Mike Pigg training seminar I am going to. Rollers are out of the question because I just had knee surgery, and my knee is still not 100% so I need the extra stability. I am wondering the pros and cons of Rim drive vs. tire drive trainers. I doubt I will use it a whole lot because I usually ride outside rain or shine. Any suggestions?

THE difference: Rim drive will spare your tires at the cost of some resistance.
