|Q about shim position on Ritchey Comp stem ...||jeebus|

I finally found a decent low price threadless stem. Apparently the former Ritchey "Pro" is now called the "Comp". Perfect for less than $40.
Anyway, this stem has a shim with a lip on it. Should the lip face down to contact the spacers? Or should the stem lip face upward to contact the HS cap? I say down. Besides, I want to use a ~1cm spacer above the stem, so I have some adjustability in stem height.
Should the slit in the shim face the slit in the stem clamp? Does it matter? Am I a bit picky?
Also, should I add more lube to the new Chorus HS bearings before installing them?

|I have mine facing upwards. It works for me. If I remember correctly, the top cap would not fit as well with the shim facing down.
|thanks! makes sense. nm||jeebus|

|I put the lip up, and the slit aligned with the stem. (nm)||Paul|
