FlightDeck ODO meter reset?(6 posts)

FlightDeck ODO meter reset?schimanski

Hi.

Is there a way to reset the ODO meter on my Flight Deck without actually reseting everything else too? This is the first time I need to reset it and since it was assembled at the store I bought my bike from, I don't think I'll manage setting it up again if I erase the whole memory. Actually I don't even remember the number of teeth I've got in my 9 sprocket cassette, and I wish to avoid actually counting them. All I remember is that I wanted the cassette modified some way to get higher gear and that's about all. :)

Sadly, you pretty much have to hit the reset button on the back of the unit (I just had to do this when resetting for the new year - the only way to even get at the odometer setting is right after a reset - you can then set it to whatever you want, or leave it at zero for the new year)

If you don't know what your cassette is, and don't want to count, you could always just click through the gears and look at what the computer currently is set at.... the rest of the stuff is pretty standard - tire diameter, time, etc. - the only odd one is rear deraileur type, which for a road bike is going to be 111 (the other choice, 222, is for a rapid rise rear der)

I believe, if you have the SC-6501 computer, then you can
input the ODO data manually without having to reset all. If you have the SC-6500 then the A/C funtion is the only way to zero out the ODO.

Nope, no such luck. It is SC-6500 and I simply have to survive the A/C reset it seems.
6501 is the same, anywayDrD

I have the 6501 wireless setup - you can program the odometer to anything you want, but only after resetting the computer with the A/C button.

DrD,
Thanks for that, I was under the impression that the the 6501 could have particular functions such as the ODO updated without the A/C. I remember the one of the biggest gripes about the 6500 from early users was the fact that the ODO could not be set to whatever it needed to be. guess they fixed that. Being able to modify individual function parameters would be nice to.
