|I have a Santana tandem. The problem is downshifting from the large chainring to the middle. The shifter swings over, but does not seem to get that correct "Click" sensation. On the workstand, I can shift up and down without problems. This happens when pedalling. We are not talking about the shifter working, and the cage moving over without the chain dropping. The problem is the shifter feels incomplete, and the cage does not move. Help!!|

|The fact that your bike is a tandem doesn't make it any easier.
I've been thinking about your problem for two days and don't have any real obvious ideas. I'd try a few things: First thing I would check is for the itty bitty allen screw on the bottom of the lever. Make sure your's is there. Second thing I would try would be a blast of compressed air in the shifter mechasism to see if that dislodges a bit of grit. I'd also try adjusting the high gear limit screw out about 1/8 of a turn. It could be that your derailleur is being pushed up hard against the stop and only binds when you have pressure on the pedals.
Good luck. Let me know if any of these work.
