|BB & Cranks or Wheels?||McAndrus|

|I'd like some opinions on an upgrade. I have enough money for one of two upgrades.
1. Change my Daytona BB and cranks for Record, or
2. Upgrade my wheels from Proton to Neutron.
Here are my in season riding conditions.
2-3 times a week ride with Cat 3 and 2 racers on their training rides. Quite often these become competitive.
Several times a year take part in South and North Carolina mountain century rides. Technically these are not races but the organizers issue numbers and keep track of your finish. So, in effect, they are races with lead groups, breakaways, and the whole routine.
Considering that I do well enough now but would like to do better, which upgrade do you think would provide a better performance boost, the wheels or the BB & cranks?
If it were your money, which would you choose?

|but my heart says crank and bb as the record crank is a very pretty thing.
either improvement wont be huge in terms of actual performance as what you have is already pretty good. over a course or timed race you will save time with better wheels. the crank and bb will be prettier and better finished with a bit of weight saved on a non-rolling part.

|My Bianchi has Mexico 68 rims - which are heavy but that's okay because they also need adjustment constantly. :-)|

|I'd get Chorus bb and cranks and handbuilt wheels w/Chorus hubs. Total on that should run around $400, which I'm guessing is less than Neutron wheels? Then again if your old stuff is still working fine, I'd probably do nothing. My $.02.|| |
