2x vs. 3x front wheel lacing...LacticBurn

How does 2x affect a front wheel's ride / stiffness / strength vs. 3x lacing?
(Especially with DT Revolution spokes...)

Thanks!

Really not an issue. Differences would be very minor, and probably swamped by the variation from rim to rim or builder to builder.

28 spoke wheels seem to lace up little better cross 2. If you try to lace a 24 spoke wheel cross 3, the spokes on one side of the hub will pass over the spoke head on the oposite side and you won't be able to lace the wheel. Cross 3 usually works best on 32 and 36 spoke wheels unless you have an unusual hub with huge flanges (like an Atom hub brake).

I'm a little leery of relying on subjective judgements, and I don't have a way to measure lateral stiffness in a wheel. I've been told, however, that the flex and movement of the pneumatic tire is what you mostly feel when you ride the bike. Sounds right to me.
