Does Campy Record 9speed work with Shimano 9speed chainringsLAN
Dec 26, 2001 8:45 PM
I'm building up a road bike soon, and I have planned using Campy Record shifters, derailleurs and cassette. I'm a weightweenie and don't want to use Campy cranks. I'd like to use Storck Powerarms Pro cranks that only come in 130mm spacing. Therefore I ask if it's possible to use Shimano chainrings with Campy 9speed or Campy 10speed? If so, should I use a Shimano front derailleur? If I can't use Shimano chainrings, are there any chainrings for campy with 130mm spacing?

Thanks in advance!!

Yes,absolutely no problem,I have used dura ace 9sp chain w dura ace ch/rings and campag 9sp derailleur & cassettte. It also works perfectly well with 10sp campag cassettte & rear derailleur(although campagnolo don't want you to know that).
You can use any front derailleur you like, campag. front shifters can work with any front derailleur currently on the market

So does that mean that even the 10 speed record cranksets will work with the will work with an otherwise 9 speed shimano drivetrain.. kind of a dumb question.. I have no reason to try such a thing, but I always thought the spacing was different between the rings on the 9 speed and 10 speed cranks..

Thanks,
Spence

yes,the difference in spacing is not enough to matter
