Next season I'd like to do some ultra-distance (200 miles+) events. Is there a resource for these kind of events (preferably within a day's driving distance from NYC) and how one might train for this kind of riding?

Do a websearch on "the Longest Day", cause they do a run a double century around June that runs from High Point, NJ to Cape May. I'm considering attempting it next year too.. High point is probably about 45-1 hour away from NYC..

http://www.cjbc.org/about.html

It's run by the central Jersey Bike Club... Although there's not much info on the website, there is contact information on there.. Let me know if that interests you, would be fun to do that with somebody from this place...
