Dura Ace brake pads(2 posts)

I have 8spd vintage DA brake calipers, and I need new pads, but I'm not sure which ones will work. My calipers have a dark grey metal thing that the pad is attached to, with little wings on it. Do I need to replace the whole cartridge thing, or just the pad. I'd like to know which Shimano pads to get, and also which Koolstop pads to get, because I know a guy who says they're better than the Shimano, and I think I'll give them a try. Thanks.

Would certainly agree they are better than Shimano's. I replaced my '98 D/A pads with KoolStops, mine are the replaceable insert type. If you'll take your pads to a good LBS you can probably find KoolStop replacements. I think they make replacements for most common brake systems.
