Carbon Forks: Look HSC-3 vs Reynolds Ouzo Pro?(3 posts)

Carbon Forks: Look HSC-3 vs Reynolds Ouzo Pro?Cruzer

I need to purchase a carbon fork for my Litespeed 53cm frame, and am trying to decide between these two forks. Litespeed calls for a 45mm rake for this frame, which Look offers, but Most retailers I have inquired to say the Ouzo Pro is available in a 43mm, but "should work". Any thoughts on pros and cons of these two forks themselves, and how critical is the rake difference between 43 and 45mm?
Stay with 45mm rakeBipedZed

I have an Ouzo Pro with a 45mm rake on a 53cm frame. They are available at Excel Sports.

Without getting into detailed discussions about trail/rake/HTA, you want to stay with the manufacturers recommended fork rake for a given frame size. Trail is the measurement that determines how the bike will handle. Trail is determined by rake, head tube angle, and wheel radius. Going to a 43mm rake will increase trail and add more stability at high speeds but make the bike more difficult to initiate a turn at higher speeds. Whether or not you will notice this depends on your experience and how often you initiate high speed turns. Most riders will not notice a difference, crit racers and fast descenders may notice. In any case, I would stick with 45mm.

I've never ridden a Look fork, but I sure like my Reynolds Ouzo Pro.
Get it from Litespeed...TJeanloz

Litespeed will have the Reynolds fork in the correct rake- painted and decal-ed to match your bike.
