Threaded to Threadless convertersMax

Has anyone used one of those things that converts your stem from threaded to threadless? You clamp a threadless stem on to this thing that goes into your threaded fork. I'm sure they aren't the best thing, but I need a new stem. I can get a sweet threadless stem for a great deal, but I can't afford to totally switch over. Plus, I've already got a perfectly good threaded fork and headset.
Are they totally useless or would it be okay until I need to totally switch over?
Thanks.

Thanks. I've been looking all over the web and I can't find anything on them though. Do Profile and Cinelli still produce these parts? They have nothing on their websites. Thanks for your input.

I found them. Thanks again.
And the reasons to not get a "normal" stem would be? (nm)Kerry Irons
