|Picked up an E Brain a while ago. The plan was to install it over the winter. But now the bike is down for a day or two for an unrelated reason and the weather stinks any way so I thought I would install it today. Any advice before I start? Lessons learned?

|I found it really straight forward - no problems at all, just followed the instructions and that was it. Check out campyonly.com as they've got some comments on it (including fitting the amber coloured plastic parts between the levers and the bar).
In use, I've found it really good and have used most of the functions now. Still have problems finding one or two of the more obscure functions but I generally get there eventually.

|I didn't have any problem with the installation--it would have been even easier in the off season when I wasn't in a hurry to try it out. You won't be able to calibrate the (I think) gear position pickups--there's a procedure in the manual that requires peddling--until you can ride it.
My problem with the ebrain started when I switched to Mavic wheels with bladed spokes. Mavic's own magnet is on long backorder, and it's a hassle to find something that works. The stock Cateye-type magnet definitely won't work on that wheel.
I finally got a good magnet mount but I'm still getting erratic speed readings and am going to have to have it sent back for a warranty replacement.
