|I have about 950 miles on a set of 2001 Churus shifters. Today for the first time I noticed a pronounced rattle from the left (front der) brake lever. It seems loose around the pivot point where it rotates on the shifter body. I haven't dropped the bike, so I'm not sure how it developed. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make it stop? If I wanted rattling levers, I would have bought Ultegra!

|Experienced a left shifter/lever rattle also. Only happened when front derailleur was in the thumb lever's last click. Shifted up one click and rattle stopped. So my problem was, I believed, cable stretch. Checked the cable in the last click stop position and it was indeed slack. I adjusted the barrel to remove the slack and no more rattle.|

|Thanks for the suggestion. Although I didn't have exactly rh same problem, it was pretty close. Appearantly during routine maintenance last week, I overtightened the brake caliper bolt, preventing the caliper from fully expanding once the brake lever was released. This left about 2mm of play in the cable, and thus the rattling lever. I also double-checked the rear brake to prevent any reoccurences.
Thanks again for the reply.
