dura ace brakesChristy

I crashed and my brake is screwed up. Dura ace 7700. The leg of the right caliper on the front brake is bent- the one that the cable connects. Would you guys suggest bending this leg back? The local bike shops seem to think that they don't make replacement legs. Fine, but then my option is to buy a whole caliper, which seem only to be sold as pairs. Being the poor college racer I will tend to make this situation work- probably try bending the stuff.

Let me know if you can get just one caliper. I don't care if it is 105.
Thanks-

You bend the alu. back and it will develop cracks. At first you'll just notice that your brake doesn't seem as powerful, then it'll snap and your brake will seem really weak. And you'll crash again - unecessarily.

Do yourself a favor go to www.shimano.com to the EUROPE section and find the exploaded view diagrams. from their you can get the part number and the only tricky part is going to be getting someone in the USA to order it. We seem to like to throw things away rather than fix them.

BTW - Racing means crashing, crashing means broken things. It comes with the job.

www.thethirdhand.com . . i think, . . now known as Loose Screws. I have purchased component parts here in the past. I don't have any experience since the name change. Good luck.
