|Hmmm. If they are Shimano, I think that they just unscrew, but I seem to remember it's a left handed thread so you turn both shifters clockwise to remove them.|

|You don't unscrew the shifters themselves; there is an inset hex bolt behind the lever itself. On newer Shimano stuff, you have to unscrew & remove the hinged lever entirely to get access at the rest of it.
Be aware the inset hex bolt is "reverse threaded" i.e. turn wrench clockwise to release tension...it's an expansion- plug type fitting.
Older Suntour Barcons work the same way... If they are Campy bar ends, I have no idea at all, but I'd wager it would work in a similar fashion.
