Wheels for Rain BikeRaymozet

I am looking for a new wheelset for what will become my rain bike (I'm ordering a new bike). Any suggestions from some experienced users out there for a good set for a 5'10, 200lb rider?

Thanks in advance.

well, its hard to say since you don't specify exactly what you'll be doing on it, what you want out of it. At your size, if these are going to be sort of beater wheels (light occasional cross, potholes, etc) and you'll be mounting bigger tires (maybe even small cross tires) I would consider going with something like the Sun CR18 rims. They're cheap, strong, and relatively wide. I use them on my fixee cross/winter bike... during the summer they get standard 23c tires, and during the fall and winter I swap in the 30c cross tires for grip and to handle the snow. Run 32 or more likely 36hole rims 3x and you'll be set for anything. If you give more details of what your priorities are for this wheelset, people will be able to help you out more.

Peace and Light,
Ben

My current wheels are the wheels that came with my Bianchi Alfana three (or was it four)years ago. Recently a spoke broke on my rear wheel and since I was thinking about getting new wheels anyway, I decided to start looking. For the most part I will be using the bike as my training bike through the winter on city streets (I live in NYC) during the weekdays maybe 60-100 miles a week.

Because of my size, I would like a pair of wheels that can perform well.

Any further insight will be appreciated.
