| Campy Permalink Replacement | flying Sep 24, 2001 7:28 AM | | Hi,
Has anyone thried the SuperLink III as a replacement for a permalink?
I need to take off my Chorus 10 chain & wonder about using this instead to re-install.
Thanks |

| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | mackgoo Sep 24, 2001 8:47 AM | | I have been using the superlink for 300 miles now, no problems. It's great, I take the chain off to clean it as well as my gear train. It takes minutes. I must say though that 300 miles is really no long term validation. |

Hopefully I can find one or the other here in town. |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | Cliff Oates Sep 24, 2001 11:25 AM | | The Forster superlink is not available until 11/01. The SRAM powerlink is easy to find. |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | mackgoo Sep 24, 2001 12:23 PM | | I think www.branfordbike.com has them, they did a month ago. They would also have the powerlink I'm sure. |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | Cliff Oates Sep 24, 2001 1:29 PM | | A person could try them, but I believe I read a thread in another forum recently where this item was on backorder. Branford doesn't carry in stock everything listed on their web site. |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | flying Sep 24, 2001 1:54 PM | | True many advertise them but they won't be available for about 3 more weeks ;-( |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | flying Sep 24, 2001 4:37 PM | | Ok I was in luck & found a Gold SRAM 9
This should be obvious but.....
I assume I replace the permalink with this?
Or do I break the chain elsewhere & install it?
Looking at the chain it seems those few black links on
either side of the permalink are probably a stronger metal.
Less likely to bulge from removal/installation?
Thanks |
| re: Campy Permalink Replacement | Cliff Oates Sep 24, 2001 4:39 PM | | Break the chain at the permalink and remove it completely. It's just like any other link in terms of pushing the pins out and removing it. |
| I'll play the Devil's advocate | JohnG Sep 29, 2001 3:32 PM | | Looks to me like the Sram link does NOT have "floating rollers" like the C10 chain. Seems to me like this NOT a good thing.
I'd suggest just putting the C10 chain together like any other chain. I've done this dozens(?) of times and never had a problem.
YMMV
