|Any decent LBS, but given that it's not working for you try an outfit like Colorado Cyclist - they cary good stuff, but aren't the cheapest. Not that cable is going to break the bank. You should know that brake and shift cable housing is NOT the same, and that shifter housing is available in 4mm or 5mm.|

|Hey, I saw LBS has two kinds of break cable housing: black and gray. I had gray all over my bike, but now, since I put an aerobar set up, i replaced break cables (they were too short) with black kind. A guy at LBS claims that gray and black housings are the same!!!! Both are shimano, and as he puts it, the number of 'whatever' is the same. ARE THEY? There is probably a reason why all of the bikes i see come with gray kind. No? Is gray the actual Dura-ace housing?
thanx a lot.
Woof, the "i hate replacing cable housing" dog.
P.S.Its too much work, especially when you have to ride back to LBS 'cause you f@#$ed up on the length of either the cable or the housing. :-)

|I don't know about the P/N for black vs. grey, but a quick check of a QBP catalog would have the answer. My feeling is that they *should* have different P/N's. No way would a manufacturer let this continue unless one was discontinued and the other was the substitution. Mabye pure Shimano is actually grey and the black is some other brand? |
Yep, cutting cables too short is a royal pain.

|Excel Sports. I bought a brake cable set last year from them. Not sure if they have the STI housing in grey, but I'm would think so. Going to order a set of both in the next month in anticipation of winter maintenance.|

|I was also trying to get the STI cables and talked to shimano directly. They said that any local bike shop can order the cables directly from Shimano. Now I have new cables :-)Good luck.|

|Is there any real differnce between Dura Ace housing and any other shimano housing? Or in fact any other housing period? |

|Simano "SIS" housing is what is used for DA, Ultegra and 105. It is all 4mm for shifters and 5mm for brake housing which is different than the shifter housing. There is no such animal as Dura Ace housing.|

|A previous poster wrote "Shimano SIS housing is what is used for DA, Ultegra and 105. It is all 4mm for shifters and 5mm for brake housing which is different than the shifter housing. There is no such animal as Dura Ace housing." This is true. BUT to make some of us DA users feel better...you CAN get SIS housing (grey) that says Dura-Ace on it! I know cuz it's on my bike. Even though I agree that the housing is all the same, the package actually said "Shimano SIS Dura-Ace".|| |
