HELP 170 vs 172.5 Cranks???nestorl

help. I have been riding with 170s for many years and I am about to replace my entire group. The new group group is a 2000 Dura Ace that was on clearance, but came with 172.5mm cranks. Is the difference really noticable (2.5mm)? In most people's opinion, will I be OK with the 172.5? I also changed pedals from old looks to campys, which are supposed to have a lower profile. Wouldn't this more than make up for the 2.5mm change?. Thanks, nestor.

You'll notice a difference but it will most likely be that you'll feel like you have more power. As for cadence, Lance's average cadence on the uphill TT stage of the TdF was 110 and he uses 175's. You'll be fine.

Take two credit cards out of your wallet. Stack them one on top of the other. See how thick they are. That's the difference between 170 and 172.5. You will not notice the difference.
