Chris King, Ritchey WCS, or Campy Record?(12 posts)

Chris King, Ritchey WCS, or Campy Record?MikeC
Aug 28, 2001 3:57 PM
I've decided to go with the Ritchey WCS bar and stem for my upcoming Seven. Now do I go with the Ritchey WCS headset, the Chris King NoThreadset, or the Campy Record headset (the rest of my group is Record)?
I'll be honest with you...I really don't expect any functional difference with these three players. I think the Ritchey looks cool, but can it play in the same league as Chris King?

There's nothing else that even comes close. Sooooo smooth, soooo sexy. You get the King and you'll never say "Gee, I wish I got the Campy/Ritchey instead." However, you will say that of the King if you get one of the others, some day.

The 10 warranty is just icing on the cake - you'll never use it.
Agree, Install it and forget it(nm)Dave Hickey

I don't think this was one of his listed choices. By hidden are you talking "intergrated" headset? If so you need a frame designed for this feature. C'dale's Integrated System is made by Campy.

The Hiddenset is designed to be used with frames with integrated headset cups. If the frame requires pressed in cups, this headset will not work.

Thanks for clarifying that. I really wanted to go that route.

I will get flamed but my lbs talked me into a record headset because he(mechanic) is a campy-serviceable guy and I got a good price on the campy. I have a record on the old threaded setup and it was good. I do keep up my maintenance, too.

A good choice. Not just because I'm getting a WCS bar and stem for my next bike, but because it's great stuff! Very light, strong, and not as expensive as the competition. I plan on a King headset as well. No arguement with that choice! I've used Campy headsets in the past and liked them, but the King is still better.
