Carbon Fork's Steerer - Question...(3 posts)

Carbon Fork's Steerer - Question...Leroy L

I am putting a Gios carbon fork on my bike. I'm told the fork is made by Mizuno. It's all CF - the steerer is a CF tube. Is there a rule concerning the maximum length/spacer height for a threadless carbon fiber fork steerer tube. For instance, I want to mount my stem 25mm up using spacer rings. Is 25mm too high? Am I going to get a lot of flex out of the steerer? Is there a risk of damage? Any experience passed along is greatly appreciated.

25 mm is roughly an inch - just about everyone agrees that 1" of spacers is OK. In reality people use a lot more on various setups. Don't forget that you can also take advantage of flipping the stem over and "get a rise out if it." ;-)
Thanks !Leroy L

I didn't want to be cruising with the handlebars flying off in my hands. 1" it is.
