Unscrewing downtube shifter bossesNoam

Hey all,

I've got an old Trek 1500 (1992?), and the downtube shifter bosses have come unglued. I need to remove them, re-epoxy them, and reattach the shifters... except I can't get the bosses off! There's a little, tiny screw connecting them through the frame and no matter how hard I twist, the screw won't come out. I've WD-40ed to no avail, and I'm afraid of stripping the screw head. Am I missing something crucial here?

Thanks much,
Noam
Back to the dealer...Retro

Been looking at this post for two or three days hoping somebody would answer it, because I don't have a clue once you've done what you've already done. Maybe there's some Trek trick (it's reverse-threaded; it's really a rivet and not a screw; the whole thing's a dummy and doesn't do anything...). I'd take it to the dealer and ask him what to do.
