|Shimano 105 Front Derailleur Adjustment||Ron AKA|

|I have a new road bike with Shimano 105 components. The bike has three gears on the front and I'm trying to adjust the location of the derailleur so it is in the proper position for the middle front gear. No problem getting the position right for the outer gears using the screw adjusment stops. However, the only way I can figure out to set the mid position is to loosen the cable clamp at the derailleur end. This seems very crude and near impossible to get it right. Am I missing something here? Is there some way to adjust at the shifter end of the cable?

|STI triples can be a bear to set up. On most bikes, the only barrel adjuster you have to work with is at the top of the down tube (a little bit hard to use). Some, like Kleins, have one where the shift cable leaves the STI lever (my favorite). Some bikes have an in-line cable adjuster between the lever and the down tube (easiest to retro-fit). I've even seen a few bikes that had no barrel adjuster at all (some bike designers are going to rot in hell).
